Default Freshly Installed! 12" Yaffee Bars

Love these new bars!! The install was not too bad, considering this was my first time changing bars. Took me about 3 hours. I used the attached videos to help with the install. A few things to point out if you are going try this yourself (for first timers). Watch some videos specific to your motorcycle, then watch them again. Use the thinnest rope you can find, the inside of the bars have limited space. I ended up using some 550 cord (para cord) and took out the guts. The casing is strong and thin. Use some good tape as John Maxwell suggest. I used some windex to lubricate the cables. I don't really recommend this because it weekend the tape adhesive. When taping the cables to the rope, don't tape too much of it. You might end up with the rope still taped to the cables inside the bars. Lay your cables next to the bars to determine how much you can tape to the rope. Last thing, DO NOT take your hands off anything you unbolt!! Dropped the brake side perch clamp and presto!! Instant dent in the fender! Cover everything!!

No electrical cable extensions or changing brake/clutch cables. Everything fit nicely and I did not have to remove the plastic tray behind the gauges as with the KST install. The Yaffee bars also have all the holes drilled for the positioning pins. So no need to grind or remove them.

(KST install on RG. I really liked this video, lots of great tips for the install)
(John Maxwell install on softtail. check out his rope set up for pulling cables)

Right out the box. 12" Paul Yaffee Monkey Bars!

Here's what the cables look like on the stock bars.

For the throttle side, make sure to pull both sets of cables together. See John Maxwell's video.

The chiseled bars look perfect on the RG!

Should still get really good wind protection. At 5'9" the bars are shoulder height.

Oh yeah!!

Looks awesome. Never understood the appeal of apes until I rode a friends bike last week.. Installed 12 inch LA Choppers Twin Peaks on my 19 Street Glide the other night. Went pretty well considering my last bar change was on a Schwinn in 1972.
