3/second ticking sound when engine is off and cold
I was sitting on the floor beside my '18 Sport Glide and noticed for the first time that there is a quiet ticking sound coming from the left side of the engine. The engine was off and cold, and I've checked several times since then (like just now) and it's still there, like a clock in regularity. In fact, if it had a mechanical clock, I would assume it ticked at 3Hz and think nothing of it. I can't hear it if there's any noise around, or even if I stand up. Not sure if it happens when it's running because it's too quiet to hear. Also not sure if it was happening all along. Any ideas?

Modern vehicles are all controlled by computers. they do what they think they should do. Static electricity, temperature changes, humidity, lean angle,
funny smell in the room, there are a lot of unknowns that cause intermittent clicks, whirrs, pings, noises real and imagined.
You tried to duplicate it and had unreliable success. You are overthinking it. Just ride it and let the magic happen.
No, I have not heard of any bombs mentioned in any service bulletins.
Edit, Now I am reminded of a funny noise from under the seat that turned out to be an onboard air compressor in the aftermarket seat. Just an example.
and this reminds me of a ticking around the top end of my Road King that sounded like a panhead motor cooling. it want away and never came back.
(the seat noise was not my seat, just some mystery solved by asking on this forum. do not give up, someone might yet solve this puzzle)
