I first realized I had a problem at 400 miles. I added 8+ ounces to the trans when I discovered the stick was dry. Then again at around 800 miles, the same thing. Used a turkey baster to suck the excess out of the primary. At 850 miles I installed the fat rod, then at 955 miles I performed the 1k mile service thinking all was good. The fat rod made a significant improvement, but didn't eliminate the transfer in my particular case.

So, I decided to pursue the installation of the vent.

The crew at Red Rock Harley in Las Vegas were great to work with, and in less than a week the vent was installed.

Is the fat rod still in there?

702, I got mine at Zion HD in Washington UT. I was in the other day and told them my sad story and they jumped through hoops to get on it. I got a call today that it was a "GO" and to bring it in for the vent.

I've dealt with Zion for years, and got to be good friends with the manager and salesman. They have been always been amazing and have done everything possible to get this issue resolved.
Dealers are kind'a stuck in the middle if you think about it. They didn't design or build the bikes, but they are the face of HD when it comes to problems.

Zion, Redrock and the HD shop on the strip are now all owned by the same guy, where before it was Cashman and some other character. The new guy also owns Mother Road in Kingman AZ along with another dealership somewhere in the Carolina's.

I give Zion two thumbs up and +10 on how they run that dealership.

I've drilled a lot of holes over the years, and the exit wound always requires deburring. Do they take the time to do that, or just rely on the hose flange to cover it up?

So much truth in this statement.

The guys I deal with are good to me, but it goes both ways. I have seen first hand why people in the service sector lock up; if you are having a tizzy fit and being a complete ***, there really isn't any incentive for them to go the extra mile. I never felt that they should be expected to know everything either, and it gets worse when the customer tells them what's wrong and how to fix the problem. But, I digress.......

I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results of the vent. So far, as I understand it, Red Rock has only done 2 other vent installations other than mine, and I know one of the other guys. His is good so far as well.

BTW, I was planning to be in Sand Hollow today with a bunch of my off-road friends, but the weather sure went to crap!

Good question, but I don't have the answer. It would be difficult for sure, but a de-burring tool might be the ticket.

702, Ha...we were just at Sand Hollow a few weeks ago. Had a great time. It's not Dumont but still fun. The lake is nearly at the spillway with all the rain and snow this year.

It's a fun place for sure. Sold my Jeep last fall after I sold my shop. You probably know this spot?
