Well, this is one way to save $600...
My '17 FLTRU has about three weeks left on the warranty so I began pricing out Cams. Settled on the RS 468 and was about to order a kit from Fuel Moto. Never any problems on the '17 except for a little trans migration so I felt confident with this easy mod.
Fast forward to Monday. The wife and I are on vacation and are enjoying a nice ride on the New Hampshire seacoast. Wife leans forward and asks, "how much is your cam job going to cost again?" I'm thinking she's upset that i'm about to drop several hundo and reply, "only $600 babe...I already have a Power Vision, AC and mufflers". Still a little nervous I further justify that i'm going to de-cat my header, which will easily "save" us another $400-$600. At this point i'm asking myself, "is she buying my bulls*it?"
She gets quiet for a few seconds and then abruptly says, "make a left". Having been married to this woman long enough to know better and not being a fool, at least IMO, I do as she says and turn left.....right into the Seacoast HD parking lot. She's been wanting a new knit Harley hat and God knows she deserves that and much more for putting up with my sh*t over the years.
We walk in and I start up the stairs to where the motor clothes are. About 3 steps up I hear her say, "that one". I turn around and see her on the sales floor pointing to this:
Two hours later we're headed up the coast in style! Other than it being a 114 and having the new infotainment system it's identical to my '17. Same color and all. God I love this woman!
Oh yeah...pic of said woman:
She's a keeper!
And that folks is how you save $600!
