Not for a stage 2. I know the stage 4 uses a complete system with catted mufflers. Not sure about a stage 3.

Labor to do the dyno tune 4 hours = $400

Total Job $2715.14

One issue is that their dyno can not handle a trike so they have to transport the bike an hour one way to their other store. Another nearby dealer told me that you can not stage 2 a trike. When I asked why, they said because in can not be run on a dyno.
since it's all SE approved parts for your model you should be able to have them just upload the SEPST Stage 2 Calibration and it should run just fine and save the $400..you could run some auto tunes with the SEPST..but you might be happy doing nothing and it will be an approved tune...no new lifters and cam bearing? not required and if it's really low miles not necessary...but that's another issue, if they are not required and done after 60 days they are not considered OEM and therefore the full factory 2 year and subsequent ESPs don't cover it the same, i.e. not in your favor..you might want to ask a few more questions or even run it by the HD CS dept

As MJWebb mentioned I’m not sure I would have it dynoed. I’m sure other will offer their opinion but with the SE street tuner the changes are limited. They can do the stage 2 canned tune and you can run some smart tunes to tweak it.
Good call on doing it now while within the 60 day window.
Enjoy the improvement and let us know how it tunes out...

Just so I go back to them informed, as a mere non-HD dealer mortal I can modify the tune on the SE tuner and run auto tunes? Just plug in with a laptop and a program downloaded from HD? This would actually work out well, because they don't have a trike dyno. I can run on the canned tune then get it tuned, if I feel the need, at my convenience.

I have a feeling they are going to tell me that's not possible....or the install won't be "legal" unless they put it on the dyno.

The quote I got for the stage 2 was with the canned map. they don't dyno bikes here anymore. The also quoted 8 hrs to do the job, not 10. maybe you can wiggle 6 hrs less out of them or they are making back the 200 discount they gave. idk

They said the cam alone was 8 hours in the HD flat rate book. Here's how they quote. R&R AC = $A. R&R exhaust = $B. R&R cam = $C. Total job = A+B+C. Perhaps they don't realize that they have to remove the AC and exhaust to do the cam and that the flat rate for the cam already includes R&R of those items. 8 hours and canned tune sounds fair to me.

From what I can gather, the pro street tuner can be programmed by anyone. I downloaded the software just to prove it to myself. My dealer has a bit of a god complex. They like you to believe that only they have the power to do things like program the street tuner. For that matter, I should be able to buy all of the parts for a stage 1, install, upload a 114 Stage 1 map and be 100% legal with no worries about warranty. I probably wouldn't crack the engine open (stage 2) and expect them to honor a warranty claim.

Also, trikes seem to be a issue for most dealers. I called a few. Only mine said they could run it on the dyno. 2 said that the stage 2 was not even available, offered or supported by HD on trikes. Unfortunately, one of them was my next closest dealer. The rest said they couldn't dyno trikes and thus could not do the work. These guys must not know that the tuning software has canned maps.

So take the dyno run away and I'm at $2315 with 10 hours labor. $2115 if I can get them down to 8 hours.

We are going to Delmarva bike week in Sept. That would be a good time to have a good tuner go at it on a dyno, if I feel the need.

run the ac and pipe thing by them, they may not know that you know the deal, or they very well may not know themselves. I think once you tell them to install the new muffer instead of the old one they have to put on they will get the clue. But if they wont, is 200 a deal breaker for you? kind of a wash on the parts discount

Their description says it does not fit trikes. Description on the HD website and book says it fits touring and trikes. Had me worried for a minute. I was trying to figure out what could be different internally about a 114 in a bike vs a trike.

The items listed are all nickel and dime.
