damn thing is light. I lifted one off the counter at a local dealer and damn near threw it to the ceiling. It’s like picking up a box you expect to be full and heavy only to find out it’s empty

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that they don't need a tender. Lithium Ion batteries hold a charge for a long, long time.

Correct.
I installed a Shorai two months ago, after an initial charge with a new $35 Battery Tender Junior, I put the tender away, have not used it since. Free at last!

OEM is 3 years old at this point..figure I was going to replace as preventative measure anyway,,and have 4 years left on ESP so every intention of owning my bike at least until it expires..so made sense to do it now with their discount and get full benefit instead of waiting for my OEM to die..20 lbs less is 20 lbs less no matter how you look at it, so it's a good thing..cost savings never considered..I blew more than it cost on video lottery last weekend..LOL

Lithium batteries do need a different charge program to Lead acid batteries so if Lithium is not stated on the charger you will need a new one that does.

As to being free from needing to use a tender with them, that might be true if your bike doesn't have an alarm or keyless fob immobiliser. If it does look at the Ah rate of the lithium batteries as I think you will find it is less than the lead acid battery it is replacing and therefore will go flat quicker.
