Star Racing 30-30 cam for M8, street manners?
May I ask does anyone have first hand experience with a Star Racing 30-30 cam swap? George Bryce has created a cam with 485 lift for stock M8's.
If Star Racing's directions are followed:
A/C swap
30-30 cam swap
D&D 2 into 1 Billet Cat exhaust
How street-able will this upgrade be? Would the folks who participate in motorcycle rodeos ever go with this setup? I'm looking to keep low speed manners high.
Thanks for your perspective.

I would say without looking at specs and stuff it hard to tell. IMPO with the M8 the more overlap they have the low end of the RPM range will suffer in its manners. This was seen in Stone Colds and Steve Coles cam testing.
If your doing rodeos I would be more worried about the clutch than the cam. I would say in the rodeo slow speed world your down low a lot
I will say I have never heard of Star cams but they kinda remind me of the old Headquarters Cam stuff. It might be the most bad *** cam out they just don't have the money to market it like the others.
Good luck if you go with it and share how it does would really like to see the power curve of it

Star Racing and George Bryce dominated Pro Stock Motorcycle several years ago so they should know their stuff. But I would think that for low speed/low RPM the stock cam would be best. High lift/ longer duration is going to cause a choppy idle and increased idle RPM so it doesn't sound like what you would want.

I have the 30-30 cam, d&d billet cat, using the SE tuner with the smart tune add on. Crazy loud, runs like a beast. It never stops pulling. Sucks the SE tuner has a speed limit governor. Definitely needs an aftermarket tune but has been fine as my daily for 6K miles. Very streetable for a race cam, nice lope

If you want a cam that has very good manners at low rpms, the TTS 100 is what you want. It pulls from below 1500 rpm and will give you a hefty boost in torque over the stock cam.
