Insurance Shopping
Currently been with Progressive going on 4 years.
Shopping insurance out and I see Markel (got a flyer in the mail) and Dairlyland.
Both Markel and DLand are cheaper by about 10% or so than Progressive for same coverage.
Markel bites when you pay it out over 2, 4 or 12 months, they tack $5 on each installment, at least progressive only charges $1 per installment.
Question is, aside from pricing...has anyone actually had to USE Markel or Dairyland for a claim?
How was the response, process, etc?
I've never had to file a claim with Progressive, but I'm assuming their service is pretty good.
appreciate any feedback.

Well, while I know it's the Internet...and you could have the cure for cancer for free, somebody would fault it or have a bad opinion of it, I think I'm staying with Progressive.
From the research I've done, folks agree that dairyland and Markel are in fact cheaper, but their claim service and fees/administrative are severely lacking.
To save about a hundo a year, I don't think it's worth it.
I'm not saying Progressive is perfect in every way, but it at least reviews a LOT better on the web.

Markel American Insurance
I have State Farm for my home, my 2019 RAV-4, my 2002 Jeep and my 2006 Buell - I too love the hometown service, but every year my HD 1200 was getting older, and the premium was getting higher. In 2019, it went up from $250/year to $280/year, so I shopped around and found Markel American Insurance Company. They insured my Sportster for $76/year, same coverage as State Farm for $280/year. In 2023 my Sportster premium was $89/year and my 2004 Dyna Glide was $118/year. Both bikes are insured today for less than State Farm charged for my Sportster alone in 2018. Fortunately, I haven't had to file any claims, but Markel's customer service has been excellent too - you gotta check them out:
