I had Allstate for several years when they suddenly jacked my rates. My agent said they were trying to get out of writing motorcycle insurance in Missouri which goes along with what someone else here said. I switched to Geico and have been very satisfied. Full coverage on my 2008 Ultra Classic is about $375 a year and has been stable for several years now.
As for Florida being 2.5x higher than NY, I bet they take into consideration the year round riding season. What is NY, maybe 6 months for most people?

My progressive premium jumped by 35% on my renewal. No accidents, no tickets, and 42 years riding. Markel is $100 less, and provides superior coverage. With Markel, you can choose the $ dollar amount for your upgrades, which is great since it’s easy to spend $10k. Markel for me in Virginia.

All these years I had Geico motorcycle insurance i thought no one can beat them, until my recent move to Florida I had to depart them and sign with Markel Insurance. It is all comes to which underwriting company (under Geico) is giving you the quote and all the sudden it jumped 2.5x higher than what i had in Finger lakes, NY. go figure!
with Markel Ins. since they were 1/2 the premium vs. Geico with same coverage, I went ahead and 'upped' the coverages (and lower Comp), and still stayed way below Geico's quotes. I wish they had Automobiles too..

Just got my renewal from Progressive, and it just keeps going up. No claims, tickets or accidents, good credit, been with then for years in Indiana. So far I've checked Geico, about 35% more than progressive, waiting on a quote from Foremost, and Markel is over $100 less than my progressive renewal. State Farm was higher last year, but I'm going to give them a chance since I have my home and auto with them. I guess I'll check Dairyland too, any others I should get a quote from?

I had American Reliable and they were about $350/yr for my '16 Fatboy. My dealer offered me a '17 Limited with 300 miles on it for a great price so I jumped on it. My insurance went up to over $600. I checked around and Foremost was over $700 but Geico was only $430. As a side note I wouldn't be able to renew with American Reliable anyway as they are exiting the motorcycle market.
