Default Insurance

I have a 2011 Limited that is paid off and I did not re-up my insurance with Rider last year because they keep uping my payments. I started with them when I got the bike in 2012 and paid 390 for the year. Last year they wanted 605 for the same coverage. I have a clean record as well.

I am with Erie for my house and car and they are not fans of covering motorcycles so they want over 800 for coverage

Does anyone know why Rider kept raising the prices and do you have any suggestions on something better that I will only have the bike on?

I live in Pa and dont know if that would cause an issue with the cost of insurance.

Thanks
Cfave

I'm in PA too. I use Rider also and for 2018 I pay less than $500 for my 2013 TriGlide trike which has a much higher value than a 2011 Limited. What coverage limits do you have?

I use AAA, have a four vehicle, two boat, and home policy. My premium for my 2014 FLHTK is $400 bucks. Maybe, give them a call.

I went with the typical off the shelf coverage of the bike and 8k in accessories. The rep told me the increase was due to Pa's change in insurance responsibilities, but she could explain what that was. A few friends have said their coverage actually went down with their providers but they did not have the accessories covered and they have it as part of their coverage for their house and car as well.

I got markel while i was at the dealer purchasing my bike in 06.

its depreciated full coverage with a 1000 ded (they have sense waived for good behavior) started out at around 350 in 06 but goes down every year as my bikes value goes down.

last year paid about 150$ give or take 20$.

That is a good choice. I had Markel on three of bikes, long enough for the deductible to go down to zero. When I called them on that and they said, that does not apply to California, immediately dropped them and went with AAA, YMMV.

Insurance companies test the water . After a while they raise rates in an area to see what they get away with. You may go a few years you may go 10 years but you turn comes.
Progressive was great to me for 11 years. Then for no reason almost doubled mine.
Dropped them switched over to GECIO and a good rate. Switched everything over.
Go shopping for a better deal often.

Up here in Ontario Canada, land of the sheep and a Mr. Dressup wannabe for a leader, I pay $1340 per year for full coverage. 1000 deductible on Collision and Comprehensive. I'm 60 years old and have a perfect record. I live in Rural Ontario. Closest metropolitan city is London at over 70 miles away. there are more corn fields and dogs than people where I live so you guys got it made down there.
