Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
I just got a renewal for my bike, $863 with progressive. Biggest part of the premium was uninsured motorist coverage, policy would be cheap without it.
Basically I am paying for other drivers insurance. Of course all drivers are required by law to have insurance. What's wrong with this picture?
Just something to keep in mind there also - unless Nevada is different, most every state's uninsured motorist also is attached to under insured motorists... for example in NY the legal requirements are 25/50/10... meaning per occurrence, you will have 25K per person in bodily injury, but that bodily injury is limited to 50K per accident, and then 10K in property damage. So they can meet the requirements of the law, however as we all know in a serious incident your medical bills and damage to your property can easily exceed 25K and 10K. So your UM/UIM would kick in there and cover the gap. You could even get it to cover any lost wages from work due to the accident. Sure, you could take the under/uninsured driver to court to cover the gap, but chances are if they are driving around on state minimum limits then they won't have any money to be awarded anyway. Cant squeeze blood from a stone. Of course, all assuming the other driver is at-fault.
100% agree. My mom worked in insurance her entire career. Was drilled into our heads from day one that state minimums are nowhere near adequate. My uninsured/underinsured bodily injury is quoted at $250,000/$500,000.

Exactly. 250/500 is great. Personally I dont think people should be on the road with anything less that 100/300/50 for both your own liability and UM/UIM but everybody's situation is different.
