Insurance Shop Around

With Markel 100,000/300,000 with 24-7 roadside service is under $200, and I don't park my bike during the winter months.

Moved to South Carolina close to 4 years ago...Insurance down here is twice what I was paying in Indiana. State Farm has my house and cars, they wanted $1200 a year for the bike. Went with Geico, they were around $850 a year. They just raised my rates to over $1100 a year, no explanation. Just got a quote from Markel for under $600 a year... I'll be making the switch in the next month when policy is done with Geico.

Ive been with USAA forever and have used Progressive as USAA's MC insurance company even though they were sometimes a little higher until today. I got quotes from several and Dairyland won. Same coverage across the board and Dairyland even added depreciating deductible into the equation. (not that it was a deciding factor at all) I contacted Progressive and gave them the opportunity to keep a customer of over 20 years and they were ambivalent at best. So I switched to Dairyland and saved over $100.00 per year. Sorry Flo

Markel was 1500. for my renewal and State Farm was 548. Clean record great credit. 12 month policy I ride all year.
wanted to stay with Markel only because of there roadside coverage for all vehicles. I couldn’t justify the price difference. So I bought 2 tires and Legend front shocks with the savings and still have a few bucks change.

Yes your right. The cheap insurance in NJ doesn't offset the property taxes, sales taxes, and housing costs though

I just switched over to Markel from Progressive (through USAA). Markel was about $50 less than Progressive for the same coverage, $195 for Markel.
Progressive gave me notice that they were not going to renew my policy this year, because I had 3 or more claims within the policy period. The 3 claims were all for towing, and all 3 came from the same flat tire incident in Yellowstone last year. 2 tows to get out of the park to West Yellowstone, 1 tow from West Yellowstone to the dealer in Montana.
To be fair to Progressive, I paid about $250 for the policy, and those 3 tows probably came to about $800, so they were on the losing end of the deal.
