Default Why would insurance be less than half for married people?

I was messing around with a few things on geicos quote form and noticed that adding the harley security system and alarm doesn't affect the annual rate but switching divorced status to married my rate would go from $375 /year to $145

Because they view it as your wife is gonna keep you grounded & youre not as likely to be out with your buddies speeding & doing stupid crap. Unfair? Probably but it is what it is...

As a general rule they are a much less risk. And that rule is pretty much right.

You'd think that would double the rates considering all the married folks who've lost the will to live. jk

You got that right brother. It's like the old quote. They say a married man lives longer than a single man, but a married man looks more forward to death than a single man does !!!

Simply because the claims rate for Geico customers is much less for married couples.

Insurance companies base their rates largely on actuarial data. People who are married have a lot less claims on their policies, as do people who own their homes, have college degrees, have high credit rating, etc. Strictly business.
