Quote from Road Gliderman…. If you ride with friends which we all do, get them to send letters or emails to MPP and Doug Ford.
Don't waste your time sending our premier a letter or an email which will get lost in his inbox. Call Doug Ford directly at 416-805-2156 This is no joke! This is NOT his office at Queens Park....this is his cell number. Don't believe me? Go ahead and give Doug a call. He will answer all calls from Ontarians. Be sure to leave a vm msg if he doesn't pick up right away as he will return your call. But I'm warning you....don't be surprised if Doug answers immediately. This is not the old Wynnebag of a premier who fooled us for far too long!!!!!

I saw a news report the other night which indicated our new provincial gov't was going after the insurance companies in Ontario this year as they have long recognized the gouging that has been going on and the unfair rate hikes to good drivers who haven't abused the system with fraudulent claims. My guess here is that the insurance industry in Ontario is aware of the scrutiny they are about to come under as well as any pending changes and they are getting out ahead of all of this with huge increases now. That way if there is a rollback of 15% on the cost of premiums and they have already hit you with increases of 30% or more, they are well ahead of the game come renewal time again next year. Let's hope our gov't finally does something here to reel in these greedy bastards and we can finally make affordable insurance payments based on our individual claim history and not that of others.

All of us Ontarian riders on this forum need to call Doug Ford at 416-805-2156 to respectfully re-iterate the need for insurance reform in this province immediately. The rising cost of ALL insurance in Ontario (home, auto, motorcycle) is simply unsustainable and well beyond out-of-control. It needs to be addressed NOW

I am a 70 something old phart, clean record, 50+ years riding, switched from TD/Primmum back to State Farm/Desjardin a couple of years ago. Last yearly rate for my 2014 Dyna Low Rider from State farm was $1840, living in Prince Edward county, for 1 M liability and full collision etc. I moved last year south west of Ottawa and went with a broker for a combined quote on house, cars and bikes. I switched to Wawanesa for everything, now saved 40% per year over State Farm. HD insurance with 2M liability and collision went from $1842 to $646 per year. Broker suggested rate may go down next year as this was my first year with Wawanesa, we'll see.

As far as Ford promising to lower auto / bike insurance, all recent politicians have promised that and not delivered. Some analysts says that for auto insurance to go down, the people who pay a lower rate due to their lower population location, not Toronto, high risk, etc, will have their rates go up to subsidize 416/519 areas. Sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for.

Also, if you do hunt down a lower rate, check with your present insurer if you pay monthly premiums. You may be nailed with a stiff penalty based on your policy renewal date just to quit your present insurer. Don't ask me how I know, ouch.

Default Policy jumped 40%

Just got my renewal last week went from $900.00 a year to $1300.00 !!! I live in Ontario Niagara Region 62 years old been riding since the age of 16. Not one claim or ticket in my life. I am with Economical Insurance through a broker. They said Economical has not raised their rates in years and are now just "catching up ". Unbelievable!!! I ride a 2012 Ultra Limited. They also told me that there are a lot of new riders out there which is another excuse for the increase. I say bullshit more riders more cash flow more profit simple!!!
