I'm with Markel, interested to see if my rates go up at renewal time in July. Might just call them and ask...

It's not that $18.00 is any big deal, I have found as I get older it aggravates me that everyone is always trying to squeeze you for a little bit more. Unfortunately the cost of living increase given on Social Security doesn't cover all of the other increases we get hit with. I also just got hit with an increase on my cable bill. I just had a tire put on my bike from the local dealer and noticed it was higher than the previous tire installation. Where does it all end ?

Allstate bumped me almost 40% in 2017. I had 2 bikes, 2 cars and my home with them. I switched to progressive and got better coverage for less than my original premium before the bump. I moved my car over to them soon after but the house they couldn't complete with. Progressive is bumping the cost in fact my premium on the bikes went up $85. I have never had a claim and my credit is stellar. BRUTAL!

SSN isn't intended to be your sole source of retirement income, so it stands to reason that it won't cover cost increases for everything that you are subject to. Assuming you are around the usual retirement age, you should have been around the block enough to know the answer to your last question.

Just found out yesterday our health insurance premiums will cost us a $1,000.00 more this year. Yes insurance companies are For Profit but there is such a thing as Greed and To Much Profit. How often do we hear of an insurance company going out of business ?

Just my opinion but anymore, insurance companies have morphed into investment firms, actually providing insurance is just a necessary evil and the 'excuse' to be in business.

I have Markel and they upped mine $73/year. I just called Dairyland and it's $40/year less than I'm currently paying. Looks like I'll be switching. I called Markel and she stated that it was just the trends of my area that raised my insurance, nothing on my part raised it. Michigan sucks for insurance.

You need to shop around like anything else for the best prices.
