Default Towing insurance

On 3 occasions my group has used motorcycle towing. 800 dispatcher has no idea that a bike requires special equipment. Tow truck with a hook is worthless! Tell them to bring a trailer, and have to explain why. The last time, 2 years ago , the Rollback shows up with the deck covered in oil, and trucks on side on interstate shoulder. Just him and I and 900lb that wants to kill you! 95°~2.5 hr. average wait time Covered for theft? Yep. Easy, hitch a ride.

Have roadside with Progressive, broke down on a Ct back road, called they said their guy would be there in a hour. It took two hrs. Guy shows up with a beat Ford explorer, his gf in the passenger seat and trailer. Find out he came from less than 15 miles from where I broke down.

Got properly loaded up, jumped in the truck and away we went, dropped me and the bike at home. Fixed and back on the road the next day.

Joined AMA last year, hopefully won't need to try their roadside anytime soon.

Thumbs up harley davidson insurance

I have Harley Davidson Insurance for both of my bikes. Went with them the first of the new year in January 2019 with my 1997 Ultra Classic. Then the 2007 Deluxe went on the policy mid September
only 2 weeks before I was going to fly and drive it home after I purchased it.
Started out in Houston and went as far as Amarillo before the bike shut down. Called Harley Davidson insurance company and they were spot on. Very helpful, considerate, and knew who
to call for a broken down bike. Had a tow truck out to me within 45 minutes. The tow truck company sent out a truck and driver that had all the correct hardware to transport my ride to a dealer.
Glad I switched when I did. They did me fine. Paid just the insurance cost when I signed up and nothing for the tow and storage for the night at the towing garage.

In most scenarios the Roadside Assistance portion of the insurance policy is "handled" by a separate department or company entirely. The insurance company will act as a dispatch for the area you are broke down and the actual service you receive will depend on the qualify of the local tow facilities. The will want to read you policy and make sure follow the roadside assistance process, as most will require you call them to coordinate the assistance.

I've used AAA (Gold Card) on multiple occasions. Being that the coverage applies to both my 4-wheels and 2-wheels, the cost is the same as having the coverage on my actual policy. This way if I do need assistance, the tow won't show up on my LIS/CLUE report.
