dear op I do not know why your insurance agent tried to call progressive to get a better rate. The truth is that all insurance company have to file their rates with the state board of insurance and in auto insurance no company that i know of budges off of what the computer says. I tell you this for two reason first so you do not blame your agent for the rate not being able to be match and second I am not sure why your agent did not already know this but you might take this as a warning sign I am not saying drop him but i would defiantly keep an eye on him.

I recently got my Progressive renewal notice with a note that my rate had been discounted by about $40 yr. I got an additional small discount by paying for the year in 1 lump sum.
I have full coverage with un/under insured motorist coverage (highly recommend for peace of mind). $288yr
I would think that if Progressive was bumping up rates on people with no claims, it would be across the board.
Try calling The Progressive 800# direct to find out why.

After 5 years with Progressive I decided to see what other companies wanted. Dairyland & Allstate were both 10% cheaper with higher coverages. I switched to Allstate since I had my autos & house with them. About 700 year for both bikes total.

I disagree...
We have a niece and a friend in the insurance business and they're both able to provide insurance from different companies. Our niece recommends Progressive because of good rates and better customer service than Geico. She didn't mention Foremost but I've heard good things about them. When we bought a bike in '05, the Harley dealership requested quotes from five companies and Progressive was the lowest. During the three years that we owned that bike, we had zero claims and our monthly rates were reduced each year. In '09, we bought a newer, more expensive bike so naturally, our rates went up but it wasn't as much as expected.

A few months ago, we looked into changing our homeowners and car insurance from Allstate. We had our friend run some quotes for us. While she was doing this, she quoted motorcycle insurance again and Progressive was still the cheapest. To return the favor for all her work, I transferred our motorcycle policy from Harley over to her. She suggested increasing some of our coverage (I think un-insured motorist ?) so we did that too. When we got our revised statement from Progressive, the monthly rate actually dropped a little over $4 a month.

Several things I've learned... 1: It pays to check around every few years, 2: Having insurance through Harley must cost more than a home town agent, and 3: A
uto pay reduces your rates.

Just thought i let you guys now, here in Ontario, to insure my 06 R/K, with NO collision, 3250$ a year. hahahhaha Jevco Insurance, alot of the companies you guys deal with arent available here for motorcycle insurance. And I had to pay the whole years total in the first 4 months, which equaled to 1100 first month and 725 for the next three. Just thought id share, so you guys dont feel bad about what your paying.
