Default Alberta, Canada to Colorado 2018 ?

So we're already planning our bike trip for 2018 and thinking Colorado.
We wanna do the Coors tour in Golden, other than that we have NO IDEA.
Thinking the Million Dollar Highway.
Anyone have any input on must do rides?
We're looking at 3 days down, 3-4 days home so we'd have a week to explore.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Had a look here:

Want inside info from the locals tho-must ride, must see, must do

Thanks,

Check out the replies I made to other posts about visiting Colorado. You'll love it, just come prepared for all forms of weather.

Thanks presto, we'll have a look.
Thinking if we can stay someplace central then explore as day trips so we're not packing all our gear every day. That's how we explored the Black Hills in '14. Stayed in Deadwood and toured a different direction each day for a week. Hoping we can do the same in Colorado

Coloardo is one of them big square states - the miles are long (and slow due to the windy roads in the mountains). Let the part of the state you plan on hitting most dictate your home base. For the Front Range (edge of the plains right below the mountains, including Golden), anywhere in Denver's a good bet. We've got a decent Interstate system that's not too bad during off-peak traffic hours.

If you're spending more time deeper in the mountains, most of the winter ski resort towns (Vail, Aspen, Breckenridge) have hotels, but they're pricey, even in the summer. It gets you right in the thick of the mountains, though. Nothing beats the views, food, and beer.

Further west things get cheaper. There are several medium-sized towns along I-70 between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction that offer mid-level hotels at decent prices.

Now, if you're into camping - we've got that everywhere. Most areas that are federally manage will even allow free dispersed camping, but make sure you clean up after yourselves and leave no trace. Otherwise there are developed campgrounds everywhere, but they fill up fast. Make your reservations ahead of time.

Leaving here July 21 and it looks like the fire situation is ugly with the Million Dollar Highway closed.
It's still 5 weeks away but we're still planning to ride the West side of Colorado.
Anyone IN Colorado wanna give feedback as far as if we should go or should we do an alternate plan-like the Oregon Coast ?
