Good afternoon. Just signed up for the forum.
You see my diabolical plan worked.
It went like this....
My Dad and I love to ride. I have ridden enduro and dirtbikes my whole life. As an adult (I'm 40 for those of you already reading this like I'm a kid) I bought an 86 Honda Shadow for road use and have been "touring" on that.
I'm one of those kinds of guys that will ride that little Honda anywhere, for however long, in whatever weather just to show you that it can be done. I have been accused of being stubborn.... once or twice... maybe....
Anyway, Dad and I were talking one day and had made plans for a color tour with the wives, including my uncles. We even invited my uncle to come along. He thought that was a nice gesture. Dad and Unc both ride Goldwings. If I had a dollar for everytime these two have tried to get me to buy a wing, I could have a pair of CVOs already. Really.... two of them. Well, I am not a 'wing' guy.. I don't like icecream that much. I am a motorcyclist and think that no matter what you ride, you're at least out there riding.... and you should get what YOU want..... But back to the story...
We had planned on riding a couple of weeks ago to a place in Northern Michigan known for the colors. The weekend was going to be ****. I mean, rain, sub 60's, high winds... My Dad gives me a call and asked if I was still in.. I said "are you kidding? Hell yes I am still in.. Texas Popcicle (my wife) is going to freeze her *** off, but I'm down" Dad says "well, maybe after this trip she will sign off on you buying a real bike." (Shots fired... oh no you didn't) Me "That's the idea ;-), and kiss my *** on the real bike comment"
We decided that the trip was still a go. And a cold, miserable trip it was. She was freeeeeezing. We had a great time despite the cold, and ended up doing just over 500 miles over the two days. (100 proof Hot Damn and me chasing her around the hotel room warmed her up enough to not rent a taxi on day 2) The whole trip my Dad and Uncle talked about how the wind wasn't an issue, how the heated seats were so nice.. I swear... she looked like she wanted to kill them both.
When we got back home, we dove under 2 comforters with our Labrador and she told me "buy any bike you want... I'm not doing that s**t again".
Last weekend I bought a 2010 Street Glide. I was looking at a brand new RG, but I didn't like the payment.
So here I am.
Here's some pics of the new lady.
