Future New Rider
Hello all! I'm currently searching for my first bike. I've narrowed it down to a Sportster model (although once I have experience I'll upgrade to a CVO Street Glide). I've been looking at the Iron 883 and the Nightster. I know motorcycles are different from the car buying experience. I've noticed that Harley's retain their value. My questions is this. I'm currently looking at a 2011 Nightster in Vivid Black w/ 3055 miles on it. It has a few mods which are the control cables have been upgraded. Looks like mini ape handle bars, Vance and Hines Exhaust System and a Screamin' Eagle air intake. They're asking $10,995. That's almost $1K more than a 2012 Nightster in Vivid Black. What's a fair asking price for a used bike w/ this mileage? Do the dealers factor in the aftermarket parts put on by the previous owner? That's how it seems to me. As I said I'm new and I'm learning about everything. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome from Minnesota. I think you just have to figure out if the accessories on the used one are things you would add anyway - sounds to me like they are a little high but maybe they will deal on the used one.

Yeah I say shoot them an offer if they refuse, then so be it....Never pay more then MSRP for a bike, I dont care what it has done to it.
Since you sound like you have money, might as well buy the brand new one and learn to ride, and not worry with mods, then get your CVO Street Glide...wow...i'm jealous...just sayin'
Ohh and Welcome!
