Need help with my 1984 FLTC
Hey all,
I am new to forums and blogs etc. not a computer newbie just participating in a forum.
I have a 1984 FLTC pretty much stock, I just purchased about a month ago. Rode a 47 Knuckle for many years earlier in life and got busy with life kids etc and didn't own a scoot again till recently. Rode a KZ1300 and a couple of other Rice Grinders but finally back in the saddle.
Any info on the EVO motor would be much appreciated. I rebuilt the Knuckle in 1980 and rode the &*%# out it for 5 years!
Too beat up now for the chopper so I am thinking the FLTC will be awesome.
Anyway have not kept up with the HD Iron and have no expereince with the EVO. I blew a head gasket with an amazing backfire on a warm start, so I am tearing into the top end. It was rebuilt 1 1/2 years /900 miles ago with a .060 over bore and 512 cam so I am thinking faulty workmanship on the head gasket.
I am being told that I can do this with the engine cases still in the frame, the only area I think will be tricky is the rear cylinder! Looks pretty close to the frame
Any advice, tips, tricks etc would be greatly appreciated.
Also what brand type of fluids what material / maker for the replacement gaskets etc.?
Has a 450 Mikuni Carb new pistons and all and the new ign module, 39 amp stator and new regulater, new hi output starter and solenoid plus a new clutch pak
All ideas and thoughts appreciated...
