I have had Danny make me a seat and there work and quality os excellent. I was hoping someone on here had actually tried one. Road the hammock for 200 miles on a demo seat. It is really nice but I am short and does move me higher in the seat. I know the sundowner is decent and affordable. Hope someone has one of the ist seats on here...
I have a Danny Gray Airhawk Longhaul on my 14 Limited. It replaced a '14 Hammock that I rode 4,000 miles on. The Hammock never caused any *** pain, but the seat edges & my inner thighs just didn't get along. That seat also was a bit tight on the jewels too. The DGAL is great; pump up the bladder, sit the saddle & then release air little by little until the "sweet spot" is found. Very comfortable & if it gets a bit uncomfortable, a couple pumps or a little release changes the pressure points & all is well again. The wife loves this seat.
Ok air hawk seats are made of two different substances, the cheaper version is polyurethane and the more expensive is neoprene. The former I understand cannot be repaired where the latter can if punctured.
Do you know if it's adaptable to a back rest? I can't find any info on the site.
There are 2 versions of the Longhaul; one has no backrest capability, the other one has a backrest recepticle built in that uses a DG backrest, similar to the Corbin design.
Hammz, is a backrest available or is it not needed?
I've never been a fan of backrests - I've ridden bikes that have them & just don't care for them. As for the Longhaul, it is available with a backrest socket, but I got the version w/o the backrest socket because I'll never use one.
I have been unable to locate any information/reviews of their IST seats. I'm am about to pull the trigger on a long haul XL because it looks damn good with great reviews. I also emailed Danny Gray and never received a response.
