Default Tour pack latch breakdown

Does anyone know how to break a tour pack latch down? I am looking at getting the latch and hinges powder coated and wonder if it can be torn down. There is some rubber in the latch that will not stand the heat I'm sure. It may not be able to be done but I knew someone here would know. Also the hinge, can it be broken down?

I don't know the answer, but if they can't they can be purchased black from HD.

Yeah I was aware that Harley made those. I was wanting to get mine done and save a few bucks.

I am pricing a chopped tour pak and was wondering the same thing. I don't want to spend the additional $ for the HD one's if I can get them powder coated. Subscribed.

Did you look at the instruction sheet for the latch? Sometimes it will give you a good look at the parts you're dealing with. Just a thought.

Yeah I looked at that and have had the part in my hand. It appears that there may be some pins that are pressed in the latch during assembly that cannot be removed. I was hoping that someone could tell me for sure if these can be torn apart and separated to powder coat.

Just having some parts powder coated, rubber isn't the problem, its the little plastic pieces in there. I'm working it. If I find a solution I'll post as of now the plastic will melt if you powder coat as is from what I've been told. I'm hoping to get this cause BLU will be happy with more Blue Powder

I wanted to have mine powder coated as well, but after looking over the latch decided it wasn't worth running the risk of trying to break it down in fear of busting something and having to buy a new one.
