Default Compass "North" indicator points South when travelling on E/W road

Hi,

Recently purchased a new 2015 Road Glide Special. Loving the bike.

While playing with the GPS I noticed something odd: When the map is in either 3D mode or 2D/Heading Up mode, there is a little compass indicator that shows up in the upper right corner of the map display. The intention is it should rotate around to always point North.

I noticed when I am running on a North/South road, that compass indicator works as expected. However, when I'm running on an East/West road, that compass indicator actually points SOUTH.

I asked the HD service guys about it and they indicated they had not heard about this before. In fact, when I was trying to show them what I was talking about, that little compass indicator only seems to show up when I'm moving, so I think they thought I was a little crazy.

Anyone else noticed this?

Thanks.

I don't think that's a compass, it's a direction indicator. It points to the direction you're going, not north.

I think.

I have noticed this as well. I thought it was a compass too at first but now I think it's a direction indicator.

There is a compass in the Nav options, but it takes a few clicks to get to.

There is a setting to make it where top is the direction your going. Not that I've used a lot of GPS systems, but this one is the only one I've used where you had to change it like this.

If you make that change it makes more sense.

Direction indicator as indicated above. There was a whole thread about this a few weeks ago, and someone put up links and pictures.

Thanks for the responses. I don't want to call anyone "wrong" who is trying to help me, but I'm actually not sure how it can be a direction indicator. In 3D mode, the direction of travel is always Up, to top of screen. Same is true in 2D mode if you have selected "up = direction of travel" as opposed to "up = north."

For the "3D" and "2D/Up=Travel Direction" modes, here is what I see:

- When I'm travelling North, the compass points UP (North)
- When I'm travelling South, the compass points DOWN (North)
- When I'm travelling East, the compass points RIGHT (South)
- When I'm travelling West, the compass points LEFT (South)

I'd take pictures but it only seems to show up when I'm moving, and I'm a bit camera-impaired at that point.

I did a search for the other thread and didn't immediately find it, any hints about search terms to find it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Elliott
