Default Boom 4.3 upgrade

Just got a 2016 FLHX with the base 4.3 stereo and I'm thinking it needs better speakers. Speaker upgrade on older batwing models was pretty easy but I can't find any info on the Rushmore model base stereo. Looks like the speakers on the 6.5 stereo are a pain in the *** to mess with, but no info at all on whether the base stereo speakers are any easier to replace.

Anybody know anything about this?

Default upgrade

I put a color matched inner fairing, upgraded speakers, and the 6.5 in. The speaker pods have a couple of bolts that are hard to get to , but overall not that bad. Taking my time I did the complete job in about 9 hrs ( over the weekend).

Go look in the Audio section, tons of info on speakers, amps, etc. Real helpful guys there as well. All depends what you want and how much you can spend. Changing the fairing speakers isn't really that bad, a pain to get a couple bolts out on those plastic pods but nothing someone with basic tools can't handle.

I have the 4.3 and replaced the fairing speakers, installed amp, added speaker lids....it's only money

I did the Boom speaker upgrade and amp. To make it easy you will need a 11 mm offset box wrench to get at the bolts that hold the plastic speaker pods. The speaker upgrade is the same for 4.3 and 6.5 boom head unit. To get a real improvment you will need to add the amp. Lots of opinions on boom upgrade or after market. I think the boom speaker upgrade and amp sound pretty good. Then again anything is an improvement of stock.
