Default Another Dealer bashing thread

I bought my 2015 RG standard on sept, 23 of this year. While talking to the salesman, I SPECIFICALLY asked had the safety recalls been done on the bike I am buying. He confidently told me OF COURSE THEY HAVE BEEN DONE. So yesterday I get a call from the service department........ what time do you want us to come pick up your harley for the safety recall.

the first word out of my mouth was.... you mean the recall that was done before I took delivery??

Oh I am not happy at all with this one. I am taking it in myself today (vacation and doing some riding), but I really didnt plan a one hour or more "break" at the dealers. this at least is going to cost them a tee shirt maybe a hat or something.

Go to the dealership on Sat when they are busy and confront the salesman in a very loud and obnoxious manner. When they start harassing you, ask to speak to the owner or at least the manager.

Squeaky wheel get the grease and management might reconsider the salesman in question as well as sales practices in general.

Was the recall in question issued before or after you picked up your bike?

I would check before inserting footing in mouth.

When proven it was an open recall when you got the bike, feel free to abuse the salesman.

clutch recall April 13, 2015
saddle bag recall July 6, 2015

I bought the bike on september 23, 2015.

I knew about the recall and asked the salesman if the recall had been done. Now the issue is that I am actually a friend of the salesman. I am betting on a lack of communication between the sales and service staff.

They wouldn't let me pick mine up until the first clutch recall had been done back in September of 14. The recall was issued between the time I put my down payment on and the scheduled delivery of the bike.

IF by lack of communication you mean your friend did nothing to check if it were done or not....

I would agree.

It is not hard to type in a VIN and find out. Your friend failed.

On a side query... were you friends BEFORE he started working at the Harley dealer?

If you hadn't agreed on one already. I would ask for a "free" 1000 mile service. My sales rep told me to ask the service manager for one and the dealer I go to always says yes. That is worth more than a t shirt. Unless you don't have any yet. LOl

It just gives you another "reason" to take the scooter for a ride ... and of course, while you're there, you'll become another victim of the parts and accessories department. Happy shopping!
