Thumbs up Turn your spots lights upside down for better light!

Crazy right??

I started this thread in touring but figured it might be better here in Rushmore.

Long story short. I have a 2014 ultra Limited with stock led projectors flashed so the spots stay on all the time..As most know it does not matter how much you adjust them they do not put out any light into the corner and can be a little scary on the twisty back roads !

After a handle bar change I put back the spot light assembly and accidentally I put the spot light bulb in rotated 180 degrees upside down. I noticed that it changed the light pattern so the hard cutout is in the same area with a wash of light above it instead of below. I took the bike out last night and it made a big difference in the corners. A BIG difference.

I was worried that it might be like driving in high beams for the oncoming cars so I took it out last night an found thru extensive testing ( Driving around and seeing if anyone high beam flashes me) Happily they do not! I passed 50 cars last night both in town and out and not one time was I high beam flashed!

I call this one a success! I'm really glad too, as I did not want to spend many hundreds on a headlight that I use at night maybe 5 times a year.

If you would like to try this it takes 2 minutes. Loosen the screw on the outer ring on the spotlight, Remove ring, This frees the bulb, carefully rotate the bulb 180 degrees, there should be plenty of wire without worry of binding. Replace ring and tighten screw.

Who ever tries this please let me know what you think.

I made this aiming video of it helps..

Maybe...just maybe...HD screwed up and accidentally installed them upside-down in the 1st place...??

Glad you discovered this simple mod.

Awesome idea I'm going to have to try this. I have the daymaker and I very unhappy with it. I tried to turn the headlight upside down. No go it is Keyed into the bike to go one way. It also has Harley Davidson imprinted into it, so You know it's correct.
I haven't had My spots "Flashed" Yet. How much did that set You back? I rarely ride at night, But do want to live when I do!
Oh Yeah, 2016 Ultra Classic.

Most dealers will flash for free, only takes a few minutes...
On my new bike ( yesterday) they flashed them before I picked it up....
