Default First time with American Elites

Changed my tires today going from OEM Dunlops to Dunlops
American Elites. Got 28,033 miles out of my factory tires but I like the aggressive tread pattern of the American Elites. I've had the MCII as well and I liked them equally as much. Tires cost me $300 from Rocky Mountain ATV. Pulled the wheels and found a local Indy to mount and balance for $60.

I still had 3/32" on my front and rear tire but I just wasn't comfortable going 80 mph down the turnpike at 0500 each morning.

If I got 28,000 out of a set on my bike I would be buying the same tires again.

Anyways, it is amazing how a new set of tires put on a motorcycle will make it ride like a new motorcycle.

They are the same. Only difference is HD is the exclusive owner of the tread pattern, same materials and handling.

I just replaced the rear stocker on my '15 Limited Low with an AA, I got 15,000 out of it

The front tread is still ok, but it's starting to dry rot down in the tread grooves. This is in the SF Bay area.... not exactly arid here.

The Elites handle way better than the stock HD front tire.

What air pressure were running on the OEM Dunlops?

The American Elite isn't even close to the same tread pattern and handle WAY BETTER.

Stupid question time...I just put a set of American Elites on my 05 Ultra, love the way new tires feel! I made sure to mount them in the direction indicated on the sidewall but as I was rolling them to my suv to bring them home I noticed that the tread pattern was opposite between the front and rear...is that right?

Yes. I think it has to do with how it displaces the water on wet roads in the front and some other reasons but I am sure others will chime in who know more than I do about this. I just know they are opposite.

From the Dunlop FAQ:

"Many Dunlop motorcycle tire patterns have “reversed front patterns” compared to rear, because different forces act on front and rear tires. We test all Dunlop tires for satisfactory wet performance in the direction as indicated on the sidewall. It is important to always mount the tire in the correct direction of rotation as indicated by the arrow on the sidewall."
