Default coolant from over flow 2016 FLTRU

At 1000 miles I stopped and the coolant was pouring out the over flow the tank was low . After today's ride there is a small amount of coolant showing . I think its a matter of air in the system. I don't have have coolant and i'm thinking of topping the system off with water. I read the topics about collant and have a cross a over part number for harley coolant that is available near by.Would there be a warrant issues getting coolant that is compatible?

I would call the dealer, have them come and get the bike, and fix under warranty

If you can't get or don't want to use Harley branded coolant, Try finding Peak Global Lifetime coolant, that's what Harley coolant is, just repackaged. Won't be any warranty issues, since that's what you had in there in the first place. That stuff should be easy to find.

I agree with tpcowfish, call the dealer. After this incident do as brewmany said and use the Peak Global Lifetime coolant or HD Coolant. In any case, the ONLY time you'd want to put water in there is if you have no OTHER choice to get you to a safe place or repair center, and even then you'd want to use distilled water. And after that you'd want to flush everything out of the system and replace with a proper coolant.

I don't have the manual in front of me, but I do recall reading that the water has to be de-ionized. Looking up the difference between de-ionized and distilled, distilled is a boiling process while de-ionized is more at a filtering process. Distilled water is purer than de-ionized water.

Bike is under warranty . Let dealer deal with it. It should not be doing that. 10K on my 2016 RGU and has not dipped a drop.

I just talked with service department they said I could bring the bike to them for coolant or I could add the global life time coolant with no problem with warrant. The dealer said even with no coolant not showing isn't that bad if there are no warring lights. I'm going to monitor the coolant my self and hope its a one time thing. Thank you for the replys.

Take it in, they need to find out why it leaked, and fix it, HD will pay for the coolant, dealer probably needs to burp system, jmo

First thing dealer should have said is bring it in and let us look it over. There is a reason it did that and needs to be investigated .
It also gives you a trial for a future warranty issue.
