Sorry to hear that. Of course my experience was a one off, no idea what the local community thinks of them, but I have no complaints.

Just clicked over 15k and it has stripped for the second time. Was not so bad I couldn't ride it to the dealer. Am on a trip, like I was the first time, but at least I was not stuck on the side of the road this time around. The kid who booked my service said he just started the job 10 days ago and has already seen 3 bikes come in stripped.

Had 74 k on my 08 SG when I traded and never had the problem. Seems like they may have switched suppliers as some of have said.

A few have recommended that we remove the heel-shifter to solve the problem. While that may indeed be a solution, of sorts, its HD's problem to fix. As customers, we should not have remove pieces of our bikes because they can't get it right. HD designs and sells motorcycles that have heel shifters and when used as intended, they fail.

Guess I'll get the after-market part and install it myself before it happens again. Bout time Harley wakes up and fixes this. And no, I don't "stomp on it".

Cleaning the bike and decided to give the shifter shaft a wiggle. Not stripped enough to cause an issue but definitely needed a to be replaced. Keep in mind this bike is driven like a Grandma and has been mine since new.

The kicker is I only have 6000 miles on the bike! Easy fix though as I ordered another shaft from the Amazon and was able to fix it properly. Make sure to grease the body of the shaft with a little bearing grease as it will keep water and dirt at bay.

Also use Blue Loctite to ensure the bolt doesn't come loose as that is what was the overall cause of my issue. The shaft assembly should have minor play as checked on a new Street Glide at the Dealer but I made mine tighter as I like a solid shift to mine.

Also, worth noting to my above post ^^. The quality, fit and finish of the Amazon shaft and the JP cycles replacement shaft appear, at first glance, to be of better quality than whoever the MOCO uses. Not sure if that surprises anyone lol.

Mine stripped out while in Phoenix for AZ bikeweek, limped it home in 3rd gear and was surprised the replacement shaft and link lever were only $68.......must make their profit on volume for this part...

You got it. I don't stomp on any shifter. I don't use the heal shifter and as buttery smooth as my 15 RGS shifts its not necessary to stomp on it. Some people kick on the shift linkage when light toe pressure is all thats necessary up or down. Locally i don't know a single rider with stripped shift linkage so that tells me its not a major issue imo.
