I recently set my GPS to get me home...checked the trip summary when I got home and it tells me I got 46.7 MPG...talk about a whopper of a lie...I really got 39 MPG. I don't believe it...

 

40 MPG is the average that I would expect.Stock bikes could be more but how fast You ride makes the difference.

 

How do you know the GPS is correct? I'm just saying..... I've gotten 40-ish mpg on every harley I've ever owned.

 

I lost all confidence in GPS when I walked "slowly" around my yard at 10 MPH!

 

Buy a Vespa , if looking for gas mileage.

Miles divided by gallons = MPG i get 45ish on my stock 15 RGS. Thats about 5 mpg less than my 883 got so i'm impressed with the 1690 mileage.

 

gps calculation used imperial gallon. which is bigger than US gallon.

 

Go buy a Prius!

 

Hey- that;s no too badsince I usually only get about 125 - 145 miles per tank when traveling actoss the road.

Here's why - wife and I pack light for our trips. We start and around about 110 or so miles, we decide it is about time to stop, get a drink of water and maybe a small bite or whatever. Then, by the time, we chose the stopping spot, e normally have about 125 or so on that tank of gas.

Then, we we stop, we fill up.
Now, seriously, when riding two up with our luggage packed - 4 lane state roads on cruise running about 60 mph, we normally get about 45 mpg. Heading to Sturgis on the highway doing 80 mph. our mileage drops to about 36 or so.
