Default Why no Map Updates

I don't understand HD. Why can't they just get Garmin to make their GPSs for them? Life time maps, better routing, easier screen navigation.

There hasn't been a map update for over two years for the BOOM!. Any one have any insider info as to when one might come out? Not that I want to plunk down $150 for it..but the current map is out of date for a lot of roads.

How many "built in" navigation units are using Garmin with life time maps?
Post up some examples.

BINGO!!
Because, as I understand it, Garmin doesn't, and won't, play nice with any OEM manufacturers.

Stupid thinking as far as I'm concerned, but not surprising if you've ever talked to anyone working at Garmin. Their BaseCrap program is a perfect example of their bass-ackwards non progressive way of doing business.

Maps out of date?? Get your *** out of the city and ride on real roads.

Yesterday I Installed the map of Europe. They have updated them to the 2Q15. But didn't write about it on the Website.

And if/when there is a new map, everyone will complain over having to pay $150 for it.
I had the same map software on my Avalon from 2008 till I got rid of the car earlier this year, Toyota wants about $200 for their map upgrades. I got along fine on the original map, not all that much new road construction where I used it, I guess....

This is a good reason why I avoid a lot of factory installed tech features even with cars. Auto manufacturers are notoriously very slow at implementing new tech and very poor at making decent easy to use software not to mention very rarely up dating it. The stereo in my 2013 EGlide handles MP3 CDs and RDS data 100 times worse than the first 3rd party head unit I put in my car amost 20 years ago.

I'll stick with my iPhone.

As it would be nice to have a update version of the mapping system, it suffices for now. Who knows if they will ever offer an update. Garmin would be nice.
I've got Garmin navy in our jeep/OEM and on my other vehicle which has a kenwood unit. I prefer it over the HD nav but I've also gotten used to it.

I still use the 2008 map in my Cadi because it's $250 for an update, and I always manage to get where I'm going....
