New battery went in today. Cleaned all connections. The old ones were pretty clean and tight when I took it apart. NO CHANGE. Still cranking slow and sometimes it stops cranking for a half second or so. Voltage still dropping as low as 5.5V while cranking. Any more suggestions?
It's possible that the new battery is defective. It's happened before on here so I wouldn't put that out of the realm of possibilities. I got a battery at Walmart a while back for my Charger and it wouldn't start my car, took it back and got a new one, problem solved.
If not that, could be a bad starter pulling way too many volts. Whatever it is, good luck.
Great thread.
Mune is starting sluggish too and I can't remember if it always did it or time for a new battery
i'm going to run some tests on it this weekend and see what volts I get out of it.
I got mine in October 2013 so it's three years old.
Mine also was slow starting. Measured 5v while starter engaged. Got a new battery and all is good. Am I supposed to have an increase in performance also? Seems like it runs better.

have you ever noticed how much your bike runs better after oil change?
I went with the Deka ETX30L Battery, PAID : $97.95 from High-Tech Battery Solutions Inc off e-bay. Free shipping and no tax.
My battery was still working but weak. The battery tender (harley) never went to green because it wouldn't charge that far. only charged to 14.5
I solved my problem on Amazon. Yuasa 500CCA battery for $137. Cranks better than new. We'll see how it goes this winter. I ride all year in VA. If I work graveyard shift, my bike will be outdoors all night and need to start at 5 am. Temps can go in to the teens......
