Default warranty

So I am in the process of buying a 2014 ultra classic w/ 40k bike appears to be in good shape, but is out of warranty. The selling dealer(not HD dealer) is offering(no pressure)an extended warranty RPM ONE basically 2 yr $1,000 no deductible all the fine print looks ok. Looking for any wisdom on should I go for it or roll the dice? Anyone with any experience please chime in. Thanks

Two years, unlimited mileage? Sounds very good to me for a three year old bike with 40,000 miles..

Do you have any maintenance records for the bike , I think a dealer can put in the serial # if Harley dealer did any maintenance

If it's like any of the 3rd party automotive ones, me & my mechanic's experience is that they generally pay 80%, not the 100% promised. I have bought two 3rd party ones for autos I've owned and they were worth it. 80% is better than 0%.

If the warranty states, 100 percent no deductible than it sounds pretty good for the piece of mind.

I have two cars that had and still have low mileage, one 10 k the other 5 k, i got 5 years, 75 k on miles, no deductible. Now i got this thru USAA as the middle man so i know i got a great deal, 800 dollars each. But there are no deductible warranties out there.

Generally, they are ridiculous in price, yours sound ok.

It's your money. If you can't afford to pay for a repair or two out of pocket, then maybe consider the warranty. I personally don't ever buy them and I'm tens of thousands of dollars ahead by passing them up. But I don't fear things like unscheduled repairs, that's why I have a savings account. My bike isn't that different than yours, other than a speck more mechanically complicated, it's been out of warranty (which by the way I didn't even use) for a year now and it's running strong. Of all the risks of riding, fearing repair costs is not even close to the top for me.

I was just thinking if previous owner serviced it correctly, and rode it 40K, with all recalls done i'd probably just ride, I just know on mine, 14 Limited liquid cooled, when the water pump went out, you,(I), would of got my money back, so hard to say
