I had one I made that fit my 1999 to my 2012. I had to buy a new one for my Rushmore. They are different. And a lot harder to make. That's why I bought one. Bought it on Amazon. I'm thinking it was a White. So yes they are different.

just use a long screwdriver. Took a few minutes to get the hang of it but works fine for me on my 15 Ltd

Recently helped a friend with a handlebar swap on a 2014 Limited. The Alignment Tool I had for my 2012 Limited wouldn't work on his 2014. Just had to grind it down some to make it thinner and it worked fine.

I guess I don't understand the need for a tool, bought or homemade. I did my bars, and now have the gauge console off for another project.

All I did was take the switch out to remove the gauges and stuff and just slid the switch back in so I could unlock the forks. Why use something else when the switch itself does exactly what's needed? (Serious question by the way, not trying to stir the pot)

I agree, unless I'm missing something. I've had my switch panel off many times. I've never had to remove the ignition switch or even turn the switch for that matter. The panel does come off without taking the ignition switch out. You have to find the right handle bar/fairing position but not a big deal.

Yeah, I've managed to crack that plastic shroud trying to find the right bar/fairing position. I can't recall how I managed to misalign the locks so that I wasn't able to slide the switch back in but I didn't need a special tool to sort it out....a screwdriver will work just fine.

I've removed the the whole inner fairing assembly on my 15 SG twice now to install handlebars. Both times I removed the ignition switch, removed switch panel then put ignition switch back in. Never needed a special tool.

2nd post in HD Forums on the subject.

I've had the switch out many times between the 05 EGC and the 14 Ultra, never had a problem.
Yesterday I accidentally moved my handlebars while the switch was out, tried various screwdriver sizes and things and now I can't get the bars to unlock with the big handle "switch" (not the key switch) in any position.
I'm assuming something is out of sync with the "tumblers"?

I just made one of the smashed copper tube tool.
I think I'll wait to see if anyone has had the same problem before I just go in hell bent.
Any 1st hand advice is appreciated.

Did the same once, I had to remove the entire ignition switch and take it apart to re-align the tumblers. You'll need a set of anti tamper screwdrivers to disassemble the switch. Fun stuff ;(
