I run what the book says. I've tried a little over and have had the tires cup on both touring bikes.

38 front - 41 rear. Check often and never have cupping. I get 25,000 out a set

What I have recently seen is that Harley and Michelin differ from what they list for a 2014 RK. Harley says 36 frt and 40 rear. Michelin says 35 frt and 39.2 rear.

That was my thinking when I read it on the Michelin website. How many people actually use a gauge that measures tenths.

North American Codes Only

This branding identifies that tires in the 225/50R16 92V size used in this example must be capable of, and be rated to carry 630 kg (1,389 pounds). Additionally it identifies that the maximum tire inflation pressure for this tire is 300 kPa (44 psi).

It is important to note that the maximum load is rated at an industry specified tire inflation pressure that is often lower then the tire's absolute maximum tire pressure. The tire pressures used to determine the maximum load the tire is rated to carry is based on the sizing system industry standards applied to the tire.

However, the tire's maximum inflation pressure may be greater, such as 300 kPa (44 psi) in this example or even 350 kPa (51 psi). This is done to accommodate the vehicle manufacturer's desire to tune the tires' high-speed capability, handling qualities and/or rolling resistance to better suit the vehicle.

It is important that owners consult their vehicle's tire information placard (usually found on the driver's door or doorjamb) or their owner's manual for the recommended tire pressures for their vehicle's driving conditions.

Maybe Michelin & the MOCO will team up to come out with a super-mega-accurate digital tire pressure gauge that measures all the way down to thousandths of a PSI. Only $249.99 (rechargeable batteries & USB cable included. Show-chrome-plated billet schrader valve air chuck, or in MOCO-speak "The tire valve stem to pressure gauge hose interface assembly", must be purchased separately at additional cost, natch').

Yeah, I NEED one of those! Hopefully they'll fast-track this project.

Seriously, find a tire expert or ask a trusted mechanic and you'll learn. If you don't inflate properly you risk problems ....... (stability, control, handling, tire wear, fuel mileage etc etc etc)...... find and expert and report back to confirm what I'm saying.
(J/K,,, ) Although I have ran my vehicles (besides my F350 truck) at max or close to max all the time to include my Bike) No ill handling effects felt, It's presumed that if the bike is loaded, 2 up it should be at max. I doubt that is the "Max" you can do before bead blow out,,, or what ever you're claiming... It's all in how you read it I suppose.
