HO 103 Durability/mileage/Trade in mileage
Hey guys. Just getting some opinions from y'all. I have my 2014 Street Glide Special set up just the way I want it. It's rock solid & well maintained. But I have the itch for an Ultra Limited. There are a few deals on some used 2016's I'm looking at. Don't want an M8.(yet) I have 30K on the SGS. She's stock, except SE Street Cannons & FP3. So many differing opinions on what is high mileage for trade in & what is considered high mileage before rebuild of top or bottom. Just wondering how many miles y'all think I can get out of the HO 103, (cause I may just keep the SGS for a couple more years) and what does the MOCO dealer consider "high miles" at trade in time based on some of y'all's experiences. I know that I can get more by selling it myself by the way.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You're not in the "high mileage" range yet by any means and if you're not willing to jump to the M8 yet, don't take a bath on what you may get for trade in, especially since the SGS is set up exactly how you like it.
Keep what you have until you're ready for the new motor and everything. You're not gaining anything by just getting another Rushmore.

There is a guy in Arkansas, I don't know him personally, he's on the We Ride Arkansas Facebook page, but he just traded his 2014 Street Glide (?) for a 2017 Road Glide at over 127K miles. I have no idea what kind of deal he got. He has done multiple Iron Butts, he says he's ridden in all states except Alaska and Hawaii. His reasoning for trading, according to his facebook post was electrical problems that the dealer fixed but he decided it was time to trade.

I have a '14 SGS also. I regretted buying it and should have bought a Limited or UC, but I've got mine set up the way I want it now. King Tour Pack, Hammock seat, taller windshield, Daymaker headlight, and a lot of other little things I've done to make it mine. I also have the auxiliary lights brand new in the box ready to install as soon as I get the time. My bike and I have bonded on numerous long distance trips and I don't want to give her up. The way I see it, what else could they possibly put on a new bike that I just couldn't live without? I plan on keeping mine until it dies, and then resurrecting it with a new engine/paint job/whatever else dies.

This sounds right. In Canada my dealer told me they can put ESP on any bike with less than 125,000 km which would be about 75,000 miles. Helps them move the bike if ESP is still available. In 2015 I traded in a 2012 with 121,000 km and was happy with the deal.

I am inches away from 90K and the 103 in my '14 Limited is still rocking along just like new, and I don't baby it. Once I hit 75K, the best trade in quote I could get was auction value because it was no longer a bike they could sell that qualified for ESP. That's ok, after all the work and $$$ I put in to get its suspension dialed in, I am keeping it!

If I remember right the magic number for a dealer to sell a bike and still offer the extended service plan is 70k miles.
We traded our 2010 Ultra last year with 56k miles. It sold the very next morning and the person that bought it liked the bike and the ESP was the deciding factor.
I have a buddy with an 09 Ultra with 130k miles and he was offered $6k on trade for a 2016 Limited last year. He passed and his still riding what he has.
