well a little bit of an update... i can't make up my mind on which $600+ seat to get so just for fun i found a HD sidekick seat (which is one i was looking at for daily use anyway) on craigslist for a really good price. i bought it and threw it on., it has the stupid gap that everyone seems to warn you about, which i fixed by cutting up the stock console from my previous bike and made it look factory. on to the seat itself.... I LOVE IT, firm and supportive, moves you back and down a bit and downright looks good. there are zero hot spots and it is a bit narrower in the inner thigh area which i like. the only downside is that i tend to relax and slouch a bit so my hips roll back a bit. this is basically a badlander seat with a touch of a back stop to it. i have spent some time on a badlander so the sidekick felt natural to me.
i may buy one of those butt pads and just throw it on top after a few hours of riding. i will take it out for a proper ride this weekend and will report back.

update did 1600 miles in 6 days on the sidekick and air hawk butt pad. by the end of the trip i was pretty beat up. i would start on the seat and run for about 80 wish miles before my butt started letting me know it was uncomfy. then stop at about 120-140 miles and throw the air hawk pad on. then i was able to go another 60-70 miles before the uncomfy feeling came back. i have to keep playing with the air level in the air hawk to see if i can get it better.
