Default 2015 Road Glide Special - Air Duct Won't Stay Open

I have a 2015 Road Glide Special and I noticed that the right Air Duct (next to the head lights) won't stay open. When I push the tab to open/close it opens the door, but then closes right away on it's own. The left and top center ducts works perfectly. What's all involved to repair? Do you know if the repair would be covered under the warranty?

Mine suck. The one on the right will not stay open and the one on the left is next to impossible to close once you open it.

I heard about this happening which is why I leave em open. Even in the dead of winter I don't bother messing with them. I still got that big old fairing in front of me shielding most of the wind which is better than 99% of the other bikes out there so im good with it

It's a crappy design. Both mine failed so I took one apart to trying fix it but it's just cheap plastic and unfixable. In the end I had them replaced under warranty.

I'm with you, I have never messed with mine. They have always stayed open, like you, even during the winter months. I was cruising down the highway, when I looked down and notice the right duct was closed and when I tried to open it with the tab it would open and then immediately close again on it's own. I called Harley and their going to fix it under the warranty...

I had the very same issue on my 2015 RGS. The left one broke in 2015 shortly after I bought the bike and the right one broke in 2016. Both times they were in the open position while out riding and they simply closed on their own and would not stay open. Luckily it was under warranty for both repairs.

I've been on two Rushmore RG's and they both had problems with the left side vent sticking open.

Top vent for me works fine, the lower two seem to hang open when I'm trying to get the closed. They'll eventually slap shut but they're real lazy. I'm gonna pull the outer fairing and lube the contact points with lithium grease to get them freed up. Hopefully that works.
