I've seen enough of those failures to pass them by without a second look.

Bought one of those new in '08. Ran the bike 40,000 mi and traded for a new '12 rgu. Put the same oil temp gauge in the '12 and added another 12,000 mi. when I traded for the '15 I left it in the old bike. Figured it was time although it still worked fine. Bought and new one for my present ride and after 2.5 yrs still works as advertised. They don't do well with water under pressure, I'm thinking garden hose here.
