That is great advice. I would never buy first year Harley. The 16 is old news. You still have a bike to ride till August which is a short time to wait. Let Harley work the bugs out. Plus they wont have the "wow" factor the 17s had and you might be able to cut a better deal.

Everyone always wants to wait and wait, the question is; how long do you want to wait to see what next year holds?

I traded my '11 FLHX on a '16 FLHXS as soon as the 17's were announced and got a great deal on it. I don't regret not getting an M8 but that's just my opinion.

The mods are available for the 17s..... But due to a deal they made with the EPA, if you mod the bike your *entire* warranty is invalid.

This is a federal government requirement; so there's no way to get around it.
EDIT: I am referring to mods which would require a tune.

The suspension is all new front and rear on the 17's. Makes quite a difference, especially now that the rear got rid of the air shocks. Clutch and master cylinder along with ABS system was redesigned.
But they did go cheap and removed the CB, rear fender tip light and all in one tool on the Limiteds.

That statement is a bunch of crap. You primarily need to stay with the abiet limited Pro Street Tuner and leave the CAT intact. Even outside of that the warranty voiding would be power train only. Not the entire bike.

we will see what happens here in the next few months as far as getting a few loans paid off and waiting to see what if any changes come with the 2018 models. It may end up being a few years down the road till I can finally get my hands on a Road Glide.

Small improvements they call upgrades should be mandatory(safety, brakes, suspension) on all models and then tack that 15% price upgrade for the because factor, really pretty fricken sad what we pay for these bikes IMO. And I've owned many.

If money is not the issue, the latest and greatest available is always the best. Last September I was fortunate to find a new '16 RGU. I saved over $7k. I too rode both, noticed slight differences, but not enough to spend the extra money. In the end do what you feel is best. Life is short, enjoy!
