Liquid and streaks in gauges

So it seems that I am not the only one
I just wanted to take a pic of the LCD/Odometer. But unfortunately now it works normal.... Damn thing. Will see what happens.
My dealer will change the gauges anyway. Not the issue.
But I have another question now. Since I am having the CVO gauges on my bike, I got a problem with the readability. Because of the black LCD on the CVO gauges, I am not able to read the Odometer until I put my hand onto the sensor and the backlight turns on.
Is there a way to get the backlight running with the ignition? My dealer did not find a way to set it to "on".

Had mine replaced last year on my 2016 SGS.Dealer kept saying it was a moisture problem until I had the service tech ride it with the sun at his back shining on the gauges which high lighted the streaking problem.Speedo and tach assembly are replaced as a unit.No problems with new tach and speedo.

Streaks happened to my '14 Limited, took it to the dealer who told me the same thing, streaks weren't covered. They called it in as "inoperable speedometer" and ESP said they would cover it. Dealer said if anyone ever contacts me tell them "the speedometer was NOT working"...cost me the $50 deductible. Only thing was I think they put in the wrong gauge pack, my speedo now goes to 130 MPH. No big deal though, everything works...

I've had the same problem with every Harley I've owned since 1998. Pre 98 I didnt notice any problems with my gauges. I recently replaced mine with quality after market American made Medallion Gauges and no more trouble...after several warranty replacements early on. Go with a quality after Market and dont look back.

Speedometer leaking on my 2015. Looks like a film of glue or oil residue slowly running down inside of glass. Started out very small and at very top of glass. Has slowly worked its way down until it is almost halfway. 1 month left on warranty and is at dealer now for replacement. Dealer had to order gauge pack and now has told me they are backordered.
Never had leaks on my 2007 ultra in over 65k miles. But, I did have a really, really small spider get into the tach somehow and die. You could see his carcass in there right about the center. Was still in there when I traded her in for the 2015.
