I agree. I like it a lot better than ride planner. Super easy to use

I just tried motogoloco ......... created a route, named a waypoint, but do not see the waypoint name in the gpx file.

Clearly could be a user error on my part, but I've tried multiple times.

If someone knows how to name waypoints with this app, I'm all ears.

^ Definitely could be handy, I'm interested also as I may give motogoloco a try next time I want to plan out a ride, just to see the differences between it and Ride Planner.

The problem as I see it is the inability of the nav software to allow an "unannounced via point" as Garmin does. When every shaping point is a "waypoint" "distance/time to via " becomes useless. Also the loss of waypoint "names" when past them (that is when the lat/long seems to take over) makes route editing on the fly a real PIA. I really wish: 1. Harley would listen to these ideas, 2. that an online study group or users group could be established (even right here) to just have constructive solutions discussed related to everyday user issues.

Wow - tried Motorgoloco - didn't seem to work for me. I could not add waypoints with going to the map and putting them in. Would not let me type in a via point.

this one seems to help me make my plans. tripplanner.honda.com

I've posted many times that I use Route Converter. It's a Freeware/Shareware application that runs as a simple EXE file. It uses Google Maps db (will allow satellite or map views). It allows zooming in tightly enough for accurate waypoint placement. It allows each waypoint to be descriptively named and/or numbered (simply double click on the waypoint to be renamed). It will display route, waypoints, or tracks.

It allows multiple routes in a single GPX file. It allows each route to be named independently, with a different name for the GPX file itself. The 6.5 GT will allow installing a GPX file with multiple routes & then recognizes & runs those routes independently, using the route names (not the GPX file name).

To keep the 6.5 GT on the same route that I make, I set the system to shortest route & make sure I place my waypoints just before or just after each turn (never in the middle of an intersection which allows the 6.5 GT to route you off the intended route) & all avoidance's off.

Here's a screen shot with a route loaded:

Dave,
Quick question......are you using RouteConverter as a stand alone program to CREATE your routes or are you creating them in another program (BaseCamp for example) and then EDITING in RC?
Thanks.

I actually do both, but the version I load into the bike is always the one saved using Route Converter.

Im thinking people are forgetting to "Select All' when they import into Boom. I painstakingly created waypoints on a day trip and Boom ignored them. I went back and re-imported the file and made sure to select all and it seems to work.
