I wear normal riding gear. Mesh jacket with armor in the shoulders and elbows, jeans, over-ankle boots, FF helmet, leather gloves. I can accept a little sweat if it saves my hide and maybe my life.
Ok, what are you guys wearing for hot weather riding? I live in Tx and am looking for a long sleeve cooling type shirt to keep from getting sunburned but also help with cooling.
Brands etc.
Thanks Jim
Jim I wear a Macna dry cooling vest. It has a built-in reservoir you add water to and uses wicking material for evaporative cooling. Unless you over fill it you don't get wet just cooler!! I actually over fill mine all the time adding 1 liter water instead of the recommended 500ml. Its get a little damp for the first 2-3 hrs but it lasts for the rest of the day that way and it most definitely keeps me cooler. I wear mine over a cotton tee or tank top. You can then wear a jacket over that if you want....I usually don't wear a jacket just the vest over the t or tank top. It might actually work better with a tee shirt over it as it would hold it closer and cover more skin.
Beware the sizing is European, I ordered 2 sizes up from what I would normally wear and almost wish I had ordered 3 sizes up. It should be snug on ur body...it just takes getting used to.
Aloha....Mike
The wife and I took a thirty mile lunch ride today before the afternoon thunderstorms hit again. We broke out the Orange HD mesh jackets that we have not worn this year yet. It got up to 91 degrees and mine felt really good. I had a HD t-shirt under it and the arms felt really cool. Much cooler than my face wearing a half helmet. However my wife was not getting the air flow that I was even with me adjusting the vents. She did not wear hers on the ride back home.
