Default Tire wear pulling a Bushtec Trailer

I will be towing my Bushtec Trailer down to Daytona for Biketoberfest. I've read a lot of horror stories about tire wear. I run Commander II's, two up at 42 psi. Anything else I need to know?

I never noticed any excess tire wear.

I had no problems either. Also never heard about any problems from anyone else.

Since I purchased the Bushtec, I have only towed it approx. 2500 miles. I try to keep in spec with tongue weight. I've read some forums on Facebook, saying tire wear is significantly reduced pulling a trailer

I would not loose any sleep about it. The only tire wear I have seen is when someone over inflates the trailer tires. I only run about 20 lb. of air in mine.

Trying to figure out what pulling a trailer would have to do with wearing your bike tire?

Yeah me to. Never head that one before. My Brother pulled several different trailers over the years for very long distances and he never indicated any tire wear issue related.

If you've pulled the Bushtec (properly loaded) for 2,500 miles, you should already realize that it's going to give less bike tire wear pulling the Bushtec than what you'd get piling all that gear onto the bike. It's like hot butter; smoooooth & eeeeeasy.

When we had our '02 Ultra we pulled an Aluma trailer which might be a little heavier than a Bushtec. We had over 97,000 miles (mostly 2-up pulling the trailer) when we traded. 2-up combined weight, approx. 350 lb. Rear tire pressure 35 lb. Air ride 45 lb. Tongue weight 35-40 lbs. Radial trailer tires at 35 lbs. Rear tire life averaged just under 11,000 miles over 97K. I tried to stretch one change to 13,000 and it left me stranded with a flat.
