Default Do you lock your fork?

Had locked my fork while parked at a rally. Got back to unlock it and the fork assembly came off in my hand when I tried to remove the key while unlocking it. Spent the next hour trying to reinsert the fork assembly and start the bike. Finally used my IPad to watch a youtube video on how to re-insert the fork assembly. Got the bike to start and got it home. The dealer installed me a new fork assembly.

Most of my riding friends never lock their forks so after this incident, it has me wondering the real value of it, with the security system in place on the bikes now.

Would be curious to know how many of you actually lock your fork.

Same or anytime the bike is out of my site parked. I.e. In a restaurant or grocery store.

If it's out of sight, it's locked.

I dont lock the forks at home. But I lock the shop the bike sits in. There is also a six foot tall locked gate in the yard and an attack chihuahua.

I had that happen early on with my first HD. The key is learning and knowing how it happens so you can prevent it and you will not have that issue moving forward. I always lock mine if it will be out of sight. Otherwise I don't.

Has it occurred to you that someone may have been trying to unlock your forks in an attempt to steal your bike?
