When the screen showing the navigation icons (Map, POI, Dealership, Where To, etc.) screen shows, then navigation is ready. At that point, insert the software update.
So...last night I did a full system reset. No change. I then got online and downloaded the latest update (1.20.4 I think). It MIGHT have made a difference. It's still "lost" as it searches for signal for up to 5 minutes, but so far, after maybe 6-7 restarts, it DOES eventually get a signal. Why it takes so long is beyond me.

Has anyone else encountered this? I think I'm one software update behind but none of the previous updates have helped. I've tried resetting it too, no help. Any ideas short of replacing the entire unit?

OP, was having the same issue(s) on my 2014 Electra Glide and was so sick of the BS, I went back to my dealership, TSI Harley in Ellington, CT and stated that these issues were there since purchase. Three years ago and yes out of warranty, But I held my ground and HD did replace the 6.5 Boom audio/GPS and labor and is working 100%. Good luck and keep after your dealer.

I had a recent problem with my GPS during a trip to Balboa Park, CA near San Diego.
2016 RGU with the most current update. I was coming south on CA 163 when it routed me onto Friars Blvd east, then did a couple other turns then right back onto CA 163.
I've had previous incidents on the east coast as well. i.e. it directed me into a downtown neighborhood in Baltimore, MD when I was actually going to Timonium which is north of Baltimore outside the beltway.

I think we have all had that to happen before. Happens in my car also. Not unique to HD Boom. I have learned to question my GPS especially when I know it is wrong and let it recalculate.

My stand alone Garmin has done that a few times also.

It all comes down to how the internal route guidance settings are configured.

are you sure you're really here? I thought I saw you about 5 miles from this forum. Can't be too lost, you found your way home.

Update: Despite being a full year out of warranty, Harley has agreed to swap it out at no cost to me. Nice!

New radio installed today. Zero change. This one behaves exactly like the last one. Takes a good 5 minutes for it to find satellites. So frustrating!
