Which model of Scorcher is it? Is it the correct load rating for the bike?

If the load rating is too low you'll be riding further down the sidewall. It would be the equivalent of running the correct load rating tire low on air.

I went to American Elites on my 09 as soon as the stock tire wore out. There was some feathering but not nearly as much as the stock HD tires. Same construction, nearly $100 less. Haven't had them on my 16 yet.

I know most of ya all go into corners on your baggers with your knees just inches off the pavement. I thought my riding style was like that too, but then I noticed my motorcycle tires have wear only down the center after about 10K miles and the little mold threads are still sticking out of the tread on the side of them. After leaning my bike over to do some work on it, I began to realize these bikes really don't use much of the side wall tread because of the limited lean angle. The floor boards will scrape first, then the bags and that's with the suspension compressed with the rider weight and road bounce. I have a car tire on my 2016 RGU. Holds the road better than MTs and lasts much, much longer at about half the price.
I replaced the OEM tire on my 2016 RGU at 11K miles with this CT. Just got back from a 8K mile road trip to the west coast and back. Total of 22K miles on this tire now. I cruised the farm roads of eastern states, the interstates, the canyons of Zion and Bryce and the heat of the Arizona and Texas highways and this CT does and amazing job of smoothing those things out.

OEM Dunlops are horrible about cupping. Soon as the factory installed ones wear out, I run only the American Elites. Rarely have cupping issues with the AE's. I do also run 2lbs over recommended, and if I am loaded up and two up for a long ride, I run 3-4lbs over recommended.

EasternSP - good write up. Lots of my Gold Wing friends run the car tire on their bikes - all have indicated they have great results. Like you, they site miles and cost as their favorite reasons.

Did you mount your own or was the dealer agreeable to doing so? I have been considering one.

I'm running the Metzler 888 on the rear right now and I've put darn near 5000 miles on it so far and I've kept the air up like the rep from Tucker Rocky told my indie, 48 psi to 50 psi, I'm running 48 psi and this thing is wearing awesome and handles great. No cupping what-so-ever, none. My American Elite only got 13,000 miles and wore to one side and original tire got 14,500 miles and roared due to crazy cupping.
Still too early to tell but I'm really liking the 888 so far.

I mount my own tires now, but there are some indys out there who will do it for ya. Don't bother even checking with a H-D dealer. They only mount what they sell. I use Ride-on dynamic balancing formula. A much better balance than you could ever hope for out of a dealer. Dealers only do an approximate balancing by throwing a few weights on the tire then glue them to your rim. Ride-on is all internal and precise.

Hey EasternSP what size is the tire? I followed a bike with a car tire on it thru some back roads up to Rainelle WV this year. Appeared to have no issues. I'm interested.

It's a Yokohama 185/65/16. I think I can fit a 195 in there. I'll try that when this tire wears out. Probably in another 10k miles.
