Got pulled over tonight because of illegal front lights. Only allowed 3 white lights on front. So now custom dynamics turn signals I have been running for 3 years are illegal. Anyone else have problems?

 

Sounds like the local PD has too much time on their hands.

 

I'll remember to avoid Iowa if I'm planning a trip. Screw that! Sounds like the deep south cops from the 60's.

That sucks but yeah, they have always been illegal, few, if any after market lights from companies like Custom are legal.

Hey, easy on the cop, he was doing his job, but yes, wrong place, wrong time.
If you dont want any standards for automotive lighting, contact your public servants who write the laws and ask them to abolish all automotive lighting laws.

 

No everything you buy on line meets every states crazy rules. It's just lights. Relax some.

 

So just turn them off when you're around Barnie Fife.

 

I live where you live. Musta been county or trooper, a lot more in force with the fair in full swing. I can't imagine local pd messing with someone over that. Get through the fair with your spotlights off, then go back to your regular lighting.

 

By the standards you cited, only 3 white lights, they would be legal on a bike without passing lights or on a bike with passing lights if the passing lights are turned off.

 

If that is a clear turn signal, I see worse issues, legality being minor. If it's your fog light, was it foggy? and is it aimed correct to help in the fog or straight enough to get the officer's attention?
