Yes, editing the exported file will allow you to rename points as you suggest.
I have done it many times.

I use tyre and the HD ride planner. I also use the trip function and had zero issues on my recent 4000 mile trip. The routes were exactly as verified. Not one hickup in 10 days.

I have had some of these issues. I believe that the HD GPS sofware sucks. You can only have a max of 9 waypoints. Google and Garmin support 25 in a single route.

Even with the way points .. the way the HD gps recognizes the routes is odd. Just look at the owners manual with 3 waypoints. Thats 2 routes. Silly.

With this said, check your avoidances and preferences. Their settings do effect the path of travel.

That is not correct at all!

Here is a ride I did last year, and the HD Nav system hit every single point exactly as I had it planned.
Start, End and 19 waypoints in between.

Another map where the HD Nav system hit every turn and way point perfect.

Start: Pig Trail HD, Rogers Arkansas
End: Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Total: 171 Miles

That way point at the very bottom (between Strickler and Winslow) is Devils Den State Park.
Some of the most twisty roads I’ve been on!

If you go to Saved, the system will change your travel. If you go to Where To.. More then Trip and select your trip, the system will take you the way you plotted it.

I did where to-more- trips.
I got to where I was goin with out any problems after I went into avoidances and unchecked toll roads.I only used a few way points along the way.

HUmm ... just got back last week from riding the Pig Trail. I have a post out in the southeast forum. got 4616 miles to and from NC.

Anyway ..

Is the route one single continuous route ? Or is it split up based on the waypoints as the owners manual suggest. I have the pdf of the boom Ill review. Ive been messing with this since I bought the bike. And whether a trip or route it never follows the identical route I provide. Certainly I can be doing something wrong.

Page 168 Navigation FIgure 123 is the mess I wind up with. .. And .. the path to those waypoints depends on the avoidances and preferences I select. So I carried a portable garmin on the bike during our 10 day trip to the Ozarks to keep us right on track. While Boom was sending me off on a wild goose chase, the garmin was exactly right on.

Other Stuff I looked at.

The HD nav system does not follow a specific route. The system connects a destination to another destination through a series of waypoints. The path it calculates between waypoints depends on how the nav preferences and avoidances are set. If you have preferences and avoidances set for fastest route and no avoidances the system will connect one waypoint to the next using the fastest possible route. That may take you down a toll road or a gravel road if the system calculates that is the fastest route. The only way to guarantee you will follow a specific route is to set enough waypoints in locations that limit the route the system calculates to the route you specifically want to follow.

That was one continuous route.
There was a starting point, then 19 different waypoints, and finally an ending point.

All GPS units work that way.
This isn't something only restricted to the HD Nav unit.

True, but we are discussing the HD Nav unit and the Harley Ride Planning software.
